Founder and President of Edward Storer & Associates, financial wealth strategist and independent fiduciary, Edward Storer, talks about the results of a recent study that reveals American couples are keeping retirement finances secret from each other.
Greenville, SC— October 11, 2016— Edward Storer, President and Founder of Edward Storer & Associates, published a new blog post entitled, “No Room for Secrecy in Successful Financial Retirement Planning.” In the post, Mr. Storer states that, “This kind of secrecy among couples typically creates financial tension and can eventually cause the relationship to fail.”
Storer writes, “I recently came across an article published in FinancialAdvisorIQ.com about a survey conducted by NerdWallet that reveals a disturbing trend regarding financial plans for retirement among couples in the U.S. According to the survey, “Couples in the United States who are saving for retirement aren’t telling each other about what they’re doing in their accounts.” (http://financialadvisoriq.com/c/1443043/161203)
As Storer points out, “My lengthy experience as a financial planner focusing on the specific goal of helping couples and individuals accumulate wealth, preserve that wealth and achieve a successful financial retirement plan tells me this trend, if true, is a recipe for disaster.”
According to Storer, “Clear communication between couples is the first requirement in order to build a solid partnership as well as a successful retirement plan.”
