Founder and CEO of Auer Tax Group, author and Premier Tax Expert, David Auer reveals two circumstances that require business owners to file an annual return for one-participant retirement plans for themselves and/or their spouses and their imminent filing deadlines.

Tulsa, OK – July 25, 2016 – David Auer, recognized Premier Tax Expert and Founder/CEO of Auer Tax Group posted a new blog on the company website entitled Filing Deadline Approaching for Business Solo Retirement Plans.  Missing an IRS filing date is no fun and some business owners may not be aware of their responsibilities, which Mr. Auer clarifies.

David AuerAuer writes, “Are you a business owner with a one-participant retirement plan such as a solo 401(k)? Perhaps you own the entire business and the plan covers only you, or you and your spouse. If that is the case, you may be unaware that you can have tax filing responsibilities.”

According to Auer, “There are two situations when you may need to file Form 5500-EZ, Annual Return of One-Participant (Owners and Their Spouses) Retirement Plan. The deadline for filing is coming up quickly, so you’ll want to take steps right away if you need to file.” He continues adding, “The usual filing due date for Form 5500-EZ is July 31st. However this year that date falls on a Sunday. So, you now have an extra day. August 1, 2016, is the deadline for filing Form 5500-EZ for retirement plans with a December 31, 2015, year-end. “
