About Keith Barron

Keith Barron, Ph.D., Ed.S., LUTCF, FSCP, CLTC is co-founder and CEO of Barron Financial Group, LLC in Columbia, SC. He’s an author, public speaker, educator, and a retirement planning specialist. Keith and his wife, Laura, were married in 1979 and have three sons and four grandchildren.

Throughout his career, Keith has helped thousands of South Carolinians prepare for retirement. He also teaches retirement planning courses at the University of South Carolina and Midlands Technical College. As a National Board-Certified Counselor (NBCC), Keith approaches retirement planning in a comprehensive way that serves his clients and their families with a compassionate dedication to act in their best interest.

When his father passed away in 2007, Keith discovered that a small fortune had been lost by Wall Street brokers and real estate speculators, adding another story to the devastating consequences of poor financial planning. Motivated by this, Keith decided to make a change in his career and joined Laura as a business partner in retirement planning.

Together, they founded Barron Financial Group in 2009. He’s now passionate about helping clients develop strategies that will help them protect, grow, and eventually transfer their wealth to those they love and the causes they care about.

Over the years, Keith has been very active in his church, Boy Scouts, and the greater community. He’s been a Red Cross volunteer since 1999 and is the lead for Red Cross Disaster Mental Health in Central South Carolina. He’s responded to eight disasters, including working with the families and victims of 9/11. Keith loves reading, traveling, and the outdoors—especially hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and biking. Most at home in the wilderness, Keith roams the North Carolina mountains or paddles his canoe on the black water rivers of South Carolina. His faith in God finds its deepest fulfillment when serving others and enjoying nature.

Keith is a member in good standing with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the National Ethics Association (NEA), and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

About Laura Barron:

In 2009, Laura Barron co-founded Barron Financial Group, LLC with her husband and business partner, Keith Barron. Their firm’s mission is to guide clients to and through retirement utilizing income and investment planning, legacy and estate planning, and tax-efficient strategies. They’re also skilled in navigating the complexities of Medicare, and help clients plan for long-term care (LTC).

Barron Financial Group’s mission is to make a positive, life-giving difference in the lives of their clients and their loved ones by helping them envision their dreams and create a comprehensive plan to grow, protect, and transfer their wealth; delivered with the highest level of personal service and professional integrity.

Laura graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Upon graduation, she was employed at Swett and Crawford Insurance in Greensboro, NC. Years later, Laura and Keith moved to Washington, DC., where she worked for one of the largest broker dealers in the country at that time. There, she worked closely with traders in her office and Wall Street brokers on a daily basis.

After taking a few years off to be with her young children, Laura and her husband moved to Columbia, SC in 1994 where she became a manager of senior services for a local insurance agency. During this time, she helped clients at or near retirement solve the many problems they face, including the challenges of healthcare and the risk of outliving their retirement savings.

In 1997, Laura formed her own company to help retirees navigate those same complex retirement issues and set out to show her clients what she’s always done—offer proven ways to protect their assets and provide a lifetime of economic security.

Thanks to her honesty, integrity, and commitment to client satisfaction, Laura has been recognized as a top producer for several insurance companies, and believes she better serves her clients by being an independent producer.

Laura has been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) for many years and has served on the board of her local association in various roles. She’s also a member of the National Ethics Association (NEA), and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Laura has also earned several designations, including the Certification for Long-Term Care (CLTC), National Social Security Association (NSSA) and the Life and Annuity Certified Professional (LACP).

Laura and Keith have been married since 1979 and have three children and four grandchildren who all live in Columbia. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, exploring the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, reading, traveling, and spending time with family.
