ATLANTA, GA, Aug 1, 2019: Founder and Owner of Oculus Plastic Surgery and Specialty Surgery Center, Harvey “Chip” Cole, III, MD, FACS posted a new article on the Oculus website entitled, The Skinny On Great Looking Skin Year-Round, in which Dr. Cole reminds readers that beautiful skin is actually more than just skin deep.

article from Oculus plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures atlantaDr. Cole begins saying that, “It’s summertime.” He goes on to add, “That means it’s time to show off your beautiful skin. As we all know,” he writes, “beautiful skin is not simply about the condition of your face. Your skin is the body’s largest organ and caring for it is truly more of an inside job than an outside job. That’s why when someone is preparing for a facial procedure, I discuss diet more often than any other daily habit.”

“As a doctor, I can tell a lot about your health just by looking at your skin, hair and nails,” writes Dr. Cole. He elaborates, “Your skin is an indicator of your overall health. In fact, here’s a tip. If you are feeling lethargic and your skin is breaking out, before heading for that energy drink or making a trip to the dermatologist for an antibiotic, think about what your diet has been lately.”

“As a plastic surgeon who specializes in facial procedures,” Dr. Cole states, “I can tell what’s going on deep below the surface of your skin. And I can also assure you that cosmetic surgery addresses much more than surface beauty.”

Dr. Cole encourages readers to, “Pay attention to the turgor of your skin.” He explains, “That’s the ability of your skin to snap back when pinched. If it doesn’t snap back right away, chances are you may be dehydrated. That’s a clue to up your water intake. The elasticity of your skin is enormously affected by what you eat and drink.”

According to Dr. Cole, “In my practice, I see so many people who attach to the latest “fad diet” who tend to pay more attention to calories than nutrients. Fad diets tend to leave one with a sallow complexion and lower energy levels. Hair and nails are also adversely affected.”
