Dr. Cole goes on to describe scars such as Keloid, saying, “Keloid scars are thick as a result of tissue buildup and grow beyond the edges of a wound.” He explains that “hypertrophic scars are thick and raised in appearance but stay within the borders of a wound.”

In terms of treatment, Dr. Cole states, “Sometimes a scar may require more than one procedure.” According to Dr. Cole, “The most important step in exploring any surgical procedure is selecting the surgeon you feel comfortable is going to be able to achieve your goals.
