Springtown, TX – January 10, 2019 – Adrian Dragoman, Founder of Grizzly Homes, Inc. and co-author of the best-selling book, Cracking the Code to Success, recently posted a new blog on his website entitled, “The Pros and Cons of Using Insulated Concrete Forms For Custom Homes,” In the blog, dragoman explains the pros and cons of using insulated concrete forms for custom homes.

Dragoman writes, “Builders must be experts in ICFs. Careful construction is necessary to eliminate concrete “blowouts.” Pouring too many feet of concrete too quickly can cause it to break through the foam panels — a costly and time-consuming mistake.

In addition, builders must use special machines to vibrate the concrete as it is poured to eliminate air pockets that compromise the wall’s strength and integrity. This structural defect is sometimes called “honeycombing.” It can be an impediment to achieving an EF-5 tornado-proof rating, which ensures that a house can withstand the most intense tornado winds.”
