Seattle Car Accident Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Discusses The Dangerous Trend of Car Stunts By Teens

Posted by admin on Nov 4th, 2010

Jason Epstein, Washington Personal Injury Attorney and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, recently published an article highlighting some alarming car stunts being done by some irresponsible teens across the country.

Seattle, Wash. – November 4, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Seattle personal injury and car accident attorney, recently published an article on his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Car Stunts: When Teens Try To Defy Death.”  In the article, Jason, explains that teens, because they are relatively new drivers, are still four times as likely to die in car accidents as older drivers.  When a growing penchant for dangerous car “stunt” driving is added to that lack of experience, the chance of death or injury mushrooms.

Jason delves into the three main types of dangerous teen driving behaviors.  These include Car Surfing (riding on top of moving vehicles,) Ghost Riding (riding in a car without a driver) and Skitching (cars pulling a skateboarder behind them.)

Jason writes, “Blame YouTube.  Blame the success of the “Jackass” TV series and films.  Whatever the reason, teens are engaging in more and more overtly-dangerous car stunts – and racking up an alarming number of car accidents involving personal injury and wrongful death.”

Jason cites reports from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC) and CBS News, and provides some real life examples of these dangerous activities and their harmful consequences.

Seattle Personal Injury Lawyer, Jason Epstein, To Speak To Seattle Teens About the Dangers of Distracted Driving

Posted by admin on Oct 27th, 2010

Jason Epstein, Seattle Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, will be speaking to Seattle area high school students about the dangers of texting while driving, urging them to make a pledge.

Burien, Wash. – October 26, 2010 – Seattle personal injury and car accident lawyer, Jason Epstein, is the founder of the initiative, Teens Against Distracted Driving (T.A.D.D.) T.A.D.D. is a movement promoted by car accident lawyers from around the country who are sick and tired of seeing kids being killed by texting and driving, or by others texting and driving.

Jason Epstein, the founder of TADD and Straight Talk Law, will be speaking at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School on  Wednesday, October 27, 2010 about the dangers of distracted driving.

“I am continually encouraged when speaking to teens across the state of Washington.  Many teens are starting to realize the dangers of texting while driving, but there is still a long way to go.   Anything I can do to spread the message that it isn’t okay to text and drive is a great opportunity.   I hope to inspire these kids to spread the message and support TeensAgainstDistractedDriving.com,” remarked Epstein.

“Everywhere I speak, my main goal is to drive home the brutal reality of the dangers of texting while driving and urging teens to sign my pledge to not text and drive.  I hope to have kids all across America wearing the orange bracelets that I have produced and am giving away for free to anyone that signs the pledge.  The bracelets say, “I PLDG 2 NT TXT N DRV,” continued Epstein.

With T.A.D.D. and it’s corresponding website, http://www.TeensAgainstDistractedDriving.com, Jason is urging teens across the country to be aware of the incredible dangers posed by texting and driving, one of the nation’s fastest growing causes of auto accidents.  Through the T.A.D.D website, teens can make the following pledge:

“From here on out, I pledge to completely stop texting and using my cell phone while I am driving. I understand the dangers associated with these actions and will spread the word to my family and friends to help us put an end to the dangerous habit.”

Seattle Car Accident Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Exposes Lawyer Advertising Gimmicks

Posted by mattcollins on Oct 4th, 2010

Jason Epstein, Washington Personal Injury Attorney and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, recently published an article highlighting some common lawyer advertising gimmicks.

Seattle, Wash. – October 4, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Seattle personal injury and car accident attorney, recently published an article on his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Lawyer Advertising Gimmicks.”  The article is a compliment to his book, “The Shocking Truth About Lawyer Advertising.”

Jason explains that as a Seattle personal injury lawyer, he has seen a lot of deceiving lawyer advertisements on television and in the Yellowpages that trick people into hiring a law firm that may not be right for them.  “I can’t stand it when lawyers do anything but serve the greater good, and these ads hurt injury victims who are in need of help,” remarked Jason.

Jason gives a quick rundown of four deceiving tactics used in lawyer ads including “the bar exam does not determine what type of lawyer someone is,” “some personal injury lawyers never go to court,” “the lawyer you see on TV may not handle your case” and “lawyer advertisements are no indicator of skill.”

On the latter, Jason explained, “A lawyer advertisement means nothing more than the fact that they have money. A fancy advertisement is no indicator of skill or experience; all it means is that they could afford an advertisement.”

Washington Personal Injury Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Discusses Misconceptions of What Happens in the Courtroom

Posted by mattcollins on Sep 22nd, 2010

Jason Epstein, Washington Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer, recently wrote an article revealing several secrets of the courtroom.

Seattle, Wash. – September 22, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Washington personal injury and car accident lawyer, recently wrote a piece for his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Secrets of the Courtroom.” The article highlights four common misconceptions of what exactly goes on inside a courtroom during a trial.  As a Seattle car accident attorney, Jason often hears many of these misconceptions and wrote the article to clarify what should be expected in the courtroom during a personal injury case.

The four misconceptions pointed out by Jason Epstein in this article include, “Frivolous lawsuits never make it to trial,” “Insurance can never be uttered in the courtroom,” “A case can be decided by a jury or a judge” and “Insurance companies can demand an ‘Independent Medical Examination’.”

About frivolous lawsuits, Jason writes, “The term ‘frivolous lawsuit’ is a buzzword that certain politicians and media personalities use a lot. It is also a term that insurance companies strive to popularize amongst the public. The reason for this is that it convinces juries in personal injury cases, that the victim of someone else’s negligence is being greedy. The fact of the matter, though, is that frivolous cases will never make it to trial. The legal system provides a lot of steps that a case must go through before trial that will get rid of any case that is frivolous.”

Washington Personal Injury Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Offers Safe Driving Tips for Teenagers

Posted by mattcollins on Sep 8th, 2010

Jason Epstein, Seattle car accident lawyer and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, recently published a list of teen safety driving tips to help curb auto accidents.

Seattle, Wash. –September 8, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Seattle personal injury and car accident attorney, recently published an article on his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Top Teen Driving Tips.”  The article gives several effective and useful auto safety tips to help teenage drivers decrease the amount of fatal auto accidents and wrongful deaths.

Jason explains that the most common problem among teenagers is inexperience. Through experience we become adapted to the roads, driving in various conditions and become familiar with our cars. Even experienced drivers take a little bit to adjust to a new car.  For teens this adjusting period takes a little longer.  The next leading factor in teen car accidents is the “invincibility mentality.”

Jason explains, “Teens view themselves as indestructible and almost immortal—they realize the inherent dangers, but rationalize that it will never happen to them. Reckless behavior often accompanies this invincibility mentality- speeding, racing and other types of reckless driving ensue.”  Jason writes , “These may appear to be juvenile habits that age will cure- but there are steps you can take as a parent to curtail this reckless behavior.”

Some of the tips explained in detail in the article include drivers education, seat belt use, the type of car to drive, maintaining the vehicle and distracted driving, among others.

Seattle Car Accident Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Advocates Raising The Driving Age to Save Lives

Posted by mattcollins on Sep 3rd, 2010

Jason Epstein, Seattle Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Attorney, recently published a blog advocating raising the driving age to 18.

Seattle, Wash. – September 3, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Washington personal injury and car accident lawyer, recently wrote a piece for his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Changing Driving Age to 18 Can Save Lives.”  The blog post discusses the statistics regarding teen car accidents and the idea that raising the legal driving age to 18 could dramatically decrease the amount of fatal auto accidents and wrongful deaths.

With thousands of teens dying every year, Jason believes that we would see a significant drop in fatal car accidents by simply postponing the age people can get their license. By waiting until teens are mature enough to handle the responsibility, Jason argues that we will ensure safer drivers from the start.

“For the older generation reading this post, I am sure you can attest to the reckless and stressful driving habits of teenage drivers. Teenagers are known for their erratic and often times negligent behavior,” writes Jason.

“I, myself was guilty of making poor driving decisions as a teen and was lucky to have never seriously injured myself or another driver. The facts are 16 and 17 year olds simply do not have the maturity level to operate such a powerful machine and they are unable to realize how much responsibility it takes to operate a vehicle,” continued Epstein.

“This plan will clearly not be very popular, particularly among those under the age of 25- but consider how dramatically the reinstating the drinking age of 21 reduced the number of fatal car accidents.  I think a change in the licensing age will have just as positive an effect,” remarked Epstein.

Jason Epstein founded Straight Talk Law to provide a series of legal guides meant to empower accident victims and those looking for a lawyer.  Straight Talk Law prides itself on providing the unfiltered truth about lawyer advertising, an informative website and blog, a new way to practice law where the lawyer communicates pertinent information directly to the client in an easy-to-understand way, and a law practice where lawyers share information with those who need it, and work on their clients’ case in an open, easy to understand way through effective communication.

Seattle Car Accident Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Explains How Taxes on Alcohol Could Save Lives

Posted by mattcollins on Aug 3rd, 2010

Jason Epstein, Seattle Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, recently published a blog discussing the effect of taxing alcohol on fatal auto accidents.

Seattle, Wash. – August 3, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Washington personal injury and car accident attorney, recently wrote a piece for his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “When Taxes Can Save Lives.”  The blog post delves into the idea that taxing alcohol more could possibly discourage its use, therefore, decreasing the amount of fatal auto accidents and wrongful deaths.

A review of 72 studies worldwide that evaluated alcohol prices and taxes designed to curb binge and underage drinking found that, on average, a 10 percent rise in the price of alcohol resulted in a 3 to 10 percent drop in consumption, along with the same decline on wrongful death and personal injury resulting from car accidents caused by drunk driving.

“It’s no secret that excessive drinking of alcohol leads to more car accidents as well as wrongful death and personal injury. It’s the kind of scenario that’s all too familiar to me as a personal injury lawyer in Seattle, Washington, and it’s something that all of us want to prevent,” remarked Epstein.

“No one likes to pay more taxes. But no one wants to see any more alcohol-related deaths on the road. Whatever can prevent these kinds of car accidents that too often result in the wrongful deaths of innocent parties should obviously at least get some serious consideration,” wrote Epstein.

Washington Personal Injury Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Discusses The Increasing Safety of Senior Drivers

Posted by mattcollins on Aug 2nd, 2010

Jason Epstein, Washington Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer and Founder of Straight Talk Law, recently wrote an article discussing the decrease in senior auto accidents.

Seattle, Wash. – August 2, 2010 – Jason Epstein, Washington personal injury and auto accident lawyer, recently wrote a piece for his website, http://www.StraightTalkLaw.com, titled “Senior Drivers: Safer Than Ever.”  The article highlights a study at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety that the rate of senior car accidents has actually gone down in the last decade.

According to the study, among drivers 70 and older, the total number of car accidents dropped 37 percent. For drivers 80 and older, the decline was even more dramatic – there were almost half as many accidents as in the previous decade. In contrast, the car accident rate for drivers 35-54 dropped only 23 percent.

“While there’s no hard evidence to suggest why seniors are driving more safely, the Institute believes it may be because they’re policing themselves more wisely. The ones who need to either limit or stop their driving altogether, may be doing it on their own. There are also many new state licensing policies that are stricter on checking the abilities of the elderly,” remarked Epstein.

“The other good news? The odds of an older person surviving a crash have also improved. Researchers calculated that a driver 70 and older is around three times as likely as someone 35-54 years old to sustain a fatal personal injury in a car accident. Again, this was another unexpected statistic to the authors of the study who expected much more negative news in terms of personal injury and wrongful death in senior car accidents,” wrote Epstein.

Seattle Personal Injury Lawyer, Jason Epstein, Featured on Q13 Fox News Discussing The Dangers of Distracted Driving

Posted by Lindsay Dicks on Jun 15th, 2010

Jason Epstein, Seattle Car Accident and Personal Injury Lawyer and Founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, was recently featured in an article on q13fox.com article about preventing teen texting tragedies.

Seattle, Wash. – June 15, 2010 – Seattle wrongful death and car accident lawyer, Jason Epstein, recently founded a safe-driving initiative geared towards teens called Teens Against Distracted Driving (T.A.D.D.) T.A.D.D. is a movement promoted by Jason and other car accident lawyers from around the country who are tired of seeing our kids being killed by texting and driving, or by others texting and driving.

Recently, Jason was the subject of an article featured on Fox News’ http://www.q13fox.com (Seattle/Tacoma) titled CRIME BUSTERS: Lawyer Dedicating Life To Preventing Teen Texting Tragedies.  The article, written by Darren Dedo, highlights one of the country’s most dangerous growing trends – texting while driving – and how Jason is dedicating himself to educate teens on the extreme dangers of driving distracted.

Through T.A.D.D., Jason is traveling to numerous cities around the state of Washington, urging teens in Washington and across the country to be aware of the incredible dangers posed by texting and driving, one of the America’s fastest growing causes of auto accidents.  Part of Jason’s speech includes a very graphic video that brings home the reality of how dangerous even a few seconds of having your eyes off the road can be.  Jason is also urging teens to pledge not to text and drive, and help him spread the word.  The following is an excerpt of the article:

At the end of each speech, Jason asks the kids for something back, a promise wrapped around each wrist.

It’s an orange bracelet which says in texting shorthand, “I pledge to not text and drive.”

He’s only been doing it a few months and already Jason has gotten hundreds of local teens to sign on the dotted line. Allison Adams signed up.

“Yeah, I signed the pledge, I have a bracelet,” said Adams, “So, I’m definitely keeping my phone on silent cause the thing does go off and you’re like whose texting me. So, it’s going to be put away from now on.”

At the Issaquah Community Center, Jason convinced all of the teens including Nick Ryder and Alexis Newman, to keep the phones down and their hands on the wheel.

“I just don’t think it’s worth it I mean in life, there’s so much more, more important things to do while driving like concentrating on the road,” said Ryder.

Jason also launched and operates the Teens Against Distracted Driving website, http://www.TeensAgainstDistractedDriving.com, where teens can the pledge not to text and drive.   Each person who signs the pledge will receive a free T.A.D.D. awareness bracelet that they can wear to show their support for the cause.  The bracelets read “I Pldg 2 Nt Txt N Drv.”
