Milwaukee Area Dentist Tony Cigno Publishes Second in Two-Part Article Series on Proper Tooth Brushing

Milwaukee area dentist Dr. Tony shares the right way to brush teeth with tips and advice for correcting common tooth brushing mistakes.

Greenfield, WI — April 2, 2018 — Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno recently published an article titled, “Dental Care Tips – Tooth Brushing Part 2: Brush Your Teeth – Do It Right!

Dr. Tony CignoDr. Cigno begins this piece by providing a recap on the wrong way to brush teeth – tooth brushing mistakes. He reminds, “If you’re like most people, you brush your teeth in a back-and-forth motion until your teeth feel clean and slippery.” He adds, “Most people also feel that if you brush harder and faster, then you’ll have cleaner teeth. That is false.”

He goes on to add that such a sawing motion is abrasive, causing teeth to age prematurely. Furthermore, it doesn’t get teeth as clean as they could be, either.

So, how does Dr. Cigno recommend you brush your teeth?

He says, “Brushing your teeth is actually fairly simple and easy. It’s so easy that you may feel like you’re not cleaning your teeth good enough.” However, Dr. Cigno also cautions, “It may be difficult to retrain yourself on how to brush your teeth right after using a certain method your whole life. But with our Greenfield and Milwaukee dentist tips, you can do it!”

Specifically, he says you need to brush with the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Then, you move your brush back and forth in short, tooth-wide, strokes. Brush the outside of the teeth and then the inner surface. Next, move to the chewing surface.

He also advises it’s important to brush teeth twice a day, two minutes each time.
