Milwaukee Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno Publishes a New Article Explaining Why a Good Toothbrush Can Be a Great Christmas Present and How to Choose the Best One

Tony Cigno, Wisconsin family dentist, shares how to choose the best toothbrush as a Christmas gift for loved ones.

Greenfield, WI — December 22, 2016 — Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno recently published an article titled, “Toothbrushes for Christmas? Why Not? How to Pick the Best Toothbrush for Loves Ones!”

Dr. Tony CignoDr. Cigno starts off the article by giving a brief history of the toothbrush from its origin 5000 years ago. He describes that toothbrush – a stick with frayed ends. However, he explains, our modern toothbrush was just developed in 1938.

He then shares why the toothbrush – and especially a good toothbrush – is so important. As he says, “Toothbrushes help to remove plaque (bacteria) that sticks to the teeth and gets into the gum area, causing cavities and gingivitis. That’s one reason why so many of the oldest generations ended up with gum disease and dental bone problems – they didn’t have toothbrushes when they were kids!”

Next, Dr. Cigno describes the two main types of toothbrushes available – manual or electric. He contends that while an electric toothbrush is usually superior, both types have pros and cons depending on the user. Furthermore, he elaborates, either one can be effective at cleaning the teeth, preventing gum disease, and warding off cavities if used properly.

Dr. Cigno concludes the article by providing some additional tips for choosing the best toothbrush for different persons. Then, he provides some general guidelines for toothbrushes from the ADA.
