New York Dental Practice Says Baby Teeth Are As Important As Adult Teeth

Dr. William P. Caldon, D.M.D., co-owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental, discusses the importance of caring for baby teeth with as much diligence as permanent teeth.

Plattsburgh, NY —Oct. 6, 2015 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new blog post entitled “Why Baby Teeth Are As Important As Permanent Teeth.” In the post, he explains that it’s vital to care for baby teeth because they allow for proper child development, not only in terms of oral health, but also speaking, eating, and confidence-building.

William CaldonSays Caldon, “A common misconception with new parents is that their child’s baby, or ‘primary’ teeth, are essentially disposable, like the strands of hair, eyelashes, and skin cells humans lose on a regular basis. Nothing could be further from the truth. Unlike hair, eyelashes, and skin, humans only get two sets of teeth during a lifetime—and the first set is integral to a child’s oral and overall health.”

Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013, USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
