Orlando DOT Physical Provider and Workflow Employer Services Owner Dr. Brad Levine Publishes Article About DOT Detention Time Tracking & Crash Risk

Dr. Brad Levine, Orlando Chiropractor, DOT physicals provider, and owner at Workflow Employer Services publishes new piece discussing the risks that come with DOT detention time and detention time tracking.

Altamonte Springs, FL — April 14, 2018— Workflow Employer Services and DOT physical location owner, Dr. Brad Levine recently published a new article on his website, “DOT Detention Time Tracking: More Crashes & Lost Earnings?”

In explaining why he is covering this subject, Dr. Levine says, “As a DOT physical provider, and a practitioner invested in your overall health and wellness, I find myself consistently reviewing issues regarding not only the health of the truck drivers I see, but also the safety.”

Electronic logging devices and hours of service regulations were originally put in place to help keep DOT drivers safer.

Additionally, they were designed to protect others on the road from truck drivers who might be overly tired, causing them to drive carelessly or not as safely as normal.

Yet, says Dr. Levine, “Driver detention may create a potential safety issue for commercial drivers and is costing drivers more than $1 billion each year.”

To support this idea, he refers to studies done by the U.S. DOT’s Office of Inspector General. One such study found that a mere 15-minute increase in dwell time actually increased average expected crash rate by 6.2%. In light of the 104,318 crashes by DOT drivers in 2013, a 6.2% increase would account for another 6,500 crashes.
