Orlando DOT Physical Provider and Workflow Employer Services Owner Dr. Brad Levine Publishes Article Sharing Health Risks of Driving Commercially

Dr. Brad Levine, Orlando Chiropractor, DOT physicals provider, and owner at Workflow Employer Services publishes new piece talking about the potential for mental disorders and physical injury among DOT drivers.

Altamonte Springs, FL — June 6, 2018— Workflow Employer Services and DOT physical location owner, Dr. Brad Levine recently published a new article on his website, “Mental and Physical Risks of Truck Driving.”

Truck drivers, explains Dr. Levine, are not immune to the same mental disorders that plague the general population. However, he adds, for the commercial driver the potential for more severe ramifications if they experience mental health issues is far greater. For one, because the job itself is an additional risk factor or can exacerbate the problem.

Elaborates Dr. Levine, “We all know how dangerous 18-wheelers can be on the road. But do we know how dangerous those trucks might also be for the driver’s health? Do we really understand? It’s harsh. Truck driving is one of the most brutal careers for a person.”

Additionally, states Dr. Levine, Truck driving is also physically dangerous in general for commercial truck drivers. This is true for both injury and health conditions.

Specifically, he says, “Commercial truck drivers are more susceptible to obesity, diabetes, anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, divorce, and even drug use than the average American. Not only is their health and home life at risk, their entire life is at risk, as well as that of others. Fatality rates for truck drivers are 11 times higher than average. Work-related issues range all the way from physical to mental.”

Some of the specific health risks he discusses are the musculoskeletal impacts of sitting upright for 10 hours a day, the impact of the truck’s constant vibration on the driver’s spinal system, as well as poor diet and exercise and the health effects of both.
