Personal Injury Attorney, Jeffrey T. Jones Cautions 4th of July is Most Dangerous Holiday of All.

Personal Injury attorney Jeffrey T. Jones, founder of the Law Offices of Jeffrey T. Jones, and best-selling author of “Protect and Defend” reveals accident statistics surrounding the 4th of July holiday celebrations focusing on those that are fireworks related and car crashes.

Jeffrey Jones Charleston, WV, June 29, 2015: Personal Injury attorney Jeffrey T. Jones, founder of the Law Offices of Jeffrey T. Jones, and best-selling author of “Protect and Defend” has posted a new article on his website entitled ““And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air…” in which he offers safety tips and statistics to cultivate freedom from injury.

Jones writes, “As organized fireworks displays light up the night each year on the 4th of July these inspiring lyrics remind us of the many liberties we enjoy in this country. Fireworks are synonymous with this holiday. “

Speaking of the many liberties enjoyed by Americans, Jones includes the freedom to “ set off fireworks privately.” He elaborates adding, “For weeks leading up to the Independence Day celebrations and for weeks afterwards, people delight in setting off fireworks. Unfortunately, fireworks related injuries are also synonymous with the 4th of July holiday.”

Jones acknowledges that, “Fireworks are not the only cause of injuries during this holiday period. He continues writing, “however according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) 65% of fireworks related injuries occur in a month long period before and after the holiday.”

In addition, Jones states, “The results of a study conducted by the (CPSC) revealed that on average 200 people go to hospital emergency rooms every day in the month surrounding the July 4th holiday with fireworks related injuries. Also, it was learned that illegal and homemade fireworks were involved in the 4 reported fireworks-related deaths during the period this study was conducted.”

Jones includes a series of fireworks safety tips from the Consumer Product Safety Commission prior to turning his attention to the high rate of teen deaths on the roads during the 4th of July.

As Jones shares, “Tragically, car crashes are the number one cause of death for children and young people under the age of 35. A crash data analysis by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety discovered that the 4th of July is the date with the highest number of car accident deaths of teenagers nationwide. The day is also dangerous for drivers and passengers of other vehicles traveling in close proximity to teen drivers. “

“Every year,” writes Jones, “thousands of Americans are injured in 4th of July accidents, including those involving fireworks, car crashes, outdoor barbecues, swimming, boating and alcohol.” He advises, “Take every precaution and enjoy the freedom that is the greatest of all: The freedom of life and good health.
