Personal Injury attorney, Jeffrey T. Jones, Suggests A New Twist for Safe Halloween Activities.
Charleston, WV, October 07, 2015: Personal Injury attorney, Jeffrey T. Jones, founder of the Law Offices of Jeffrey T. Jones, and best-selling author of “Protect and Defend” has posted a new blog on his website entitled “Halloween Activities For Fun and Safety.” With a few minor tweaks Jones gives parents a couple of fun alternatives that are safer than the traditional ones.
Jones acknowledges, “This is the time of year for fall fruits and vegetables and activities that could potentially turn into danger like pumpkin carving and bobbing for apples.” He adds, “A few precautions and improvisations on traditional activities can ensure that everyone will have fun while staying safe.”
“For starters,” writes Jones, “small children should never carve pumpkins.” He suggests, “Children can draw a face with markers. Then parents or an older child can do the cutting.” In addition, Jones says, “If the jack-o-lantern is going to be lit, consider using a flashlight or glow stick instead of a candle to light up your pumpkin. If you do use a candle, a votive candle is safest.”
According to Jones, “Bobbing for apples is another activity that is potentially frightening for young children.” A different approach Jones offers is as follows. “You could draw apples and cut them out of construction paper. Thread a paper clip through the stem and write a fun action on the back of the apple. Create a “fishing pole” with a magnet instead of a hook and “bob” for the apples with the pole. The children can do the action written on the apple and get a real apple for their efforts.”
