Orlando DOT Physical Provider and Workflow Employer Services Owner Dr. Brad Levine Publishes New Article with Important Information Regarding Mental Illness and DOT Medical Certification
Dr. Brad Levine, Orlando Chiropractor and owner at Workflow Employer Services releases new article explaining mental health requirements to pass the DOT physical exam.
Altamonte Springs, FL — August 24, 2016 — Workflow Employer Services owner and Orlando area chiropractor Dr. Brad Levine recently published a new article on his website “Mental Illness and DOT Medical Certification.”
As Dr. Levine shares, all commercial drivers must pass the DOT physical exam to get DOT medical certification. He goes on to explain that during this process, you will be asked questions about mental illness. Dr. Levine elaborates, “Whether you can pass the DOT physical exam if you have a history of mental illness depends on a few different factors.”
First, however, Dr. Levine encourages the reader to make sure he or she feels stable enough to undertake the responsibility of driving commercially, before even considering whether he / she can pass the mental health requirements of the DOT physical.
If the potential driver is currently being treated for the mental illness, Dr. Levine outlines the next step which is getting a medical opinion letter from the treating physician. This letter will give specific details on when you were diagnosed, the official diagnosis, your treatment plan, whether or not your condition is stable, and if your physician thinks your condition is stable enough for you to be a safe commercial driver.
Dr. Levine adds, “In any case, your mental health is something vital to your safety and success as a commercial driver. That’s why it’s a part of your DOT medical certification. All the requirements are in place for your own good and the safety and security of others.”
