Pa Joof, renowned business strategist and speaker, suggests trying out some new, New Year’s Resolutions that will improve mental flexibility instead of the usual resolutions that focus on the physical.
LONDON, UK — December 08, 2016 — Executive coach, renowned business strategist and speaker, Pa Joof posted a new blog on his website entitled, “Here’s To a New Year of Mental Flexibility”, in which Mr. Joof proposes an “out with the old, in with the new” approach to New Year’s resolutions.
Joof writes, “We are getting ready to begin a brand new 365-day twirl around that bright orb known as the sun.” He adds, “And, I don’t know why, but it just seems everything moves even faster as we approach the year’s end.”
“With the advent of a New Year,” says Joof, “millions of people will make resolutions to go to the gym more often, take more yoga classes, run a marathon and any number of other things relating to the physical body.” He continues saying, “It’s fascinating that resolutions are comprised pretty much of the same-old-same-old tired physical goals year-after-year. Everybody seems to think if their bodies were stronger and more flexible their lives would somehow be better.”
Joof states, “I’d like to suggest trying out a new resolution this coming year.” He writes, “Work on your mental or psychological flexibility. The benefit of working toward mental flexibility often translates to increased health and physical wellbeing for the simple fact that mind is more powerful than matter.”
Joof doesn’t suggest as he says, “anything mind-boggling or earth shattering.” Instead he proposes something as simple as learning a new word everyday. Or as he writes, “Vary your routine. If you walk or drive to work the same way everyday, take a different route.”
According to Joof, “Simple changes in everyday routines have been shown to recruit pathways in the brain that are not as active as the ones used by the usual behavior. This provides stimulus that increases mental flexibility.”
