Tax Advisor Barry G. Fowler, EA, Tells Taxpayers One Important Thing They Should Know About the IRS

Barry G. Fowler, EA, leading expert in tax resolution issues and CEO of Taxation Solutions, shares one bit of information that can help any taxpayer avoid being taken advantage of by nationwide IRS tax scammers.

Houston, TX – February 18, 2015 – Barry G. Fowler, CEO of Taxation Solutions, posted a new blog titled “The One Thing IRS Tax Scammers Hope You Don’t Know.” With tax season in full swing, the IRS tax scammers are in high gear. And, as Mr. Fowler writes, “These scammers target the most vulnerable taxpayers, which include the elderly, recent immigrants and those whose first language is not English.”

Criminals always target what they consider to be the weakest victims. As Fowler notes, “These scammers are counting on those Americans not being aware of how the IRS works.” He continues, “So, in this case, just one bit of knowledge goes a long way in foiling the IRS scammers’ attempts at stealing your refund or filing a false tax return in your name.”

According to Fowler, ”Here is the only thing you really need to know. The IRS doesn’t call they send a formal letter.” He advises his readers to, “Sear this into your brain.”

Fowler then lists things the IRS does not do, which the scammers are known to use to scare their victims. “They will not call to tell you that you owe them money.

They will not send you an email telling you that you owe them money. They will not threaten you. They will not use aggressive language. They will not ask for payment on a prepaid debit card.”

Last, but not least, Fowlers says of the IRS, “They will not ask for personal financial information over the phone or in an email. (Remember, the IRS doesn’t call or send emails!)”
