Barry G. Fowler, EA, leading expert in tax resolution issues and CEO of Taxation Solutions isn’t surprised nor should his readers be that scammers were at the ready to take advantage of the unsuspecting during the government shutdown.
Houston, TX – February 14, 2019 – Barry G. Fowler, CEO of Taxation Solutions, posted a new blog on the company website entitled “Surprise! Scammers Tried To Cash In On The Shutdown.” Mr. Fowler gives examples of the two prominent robocalls that were running throughout the country.
As Fowler points out, “The longest government shutdown in history is certainly wreaking havoc with taxpayers.” He adds, “However it was a big fat window of opportunity for scammers. Yes, what a surprise. And they didn’t miss a beat.”
“Hopefully,” says Fowler, “most of you who read my blogs and articles are aware of the endless number of scams that come through via phone and email and do not fall for them. Unfortunately there are still some who get caught and end up losing money and very possibly their identities to the criminals.”
Fowler states that, “According to CNBC, about 5 million robocalls are made each month.” He added, “They also reported on two prominent robocall scams that hit the phones almost immediately after the shutdown began. The scammers are getting more sophisticated too. They hire American voice over talents to record their messages which makes them sound more convincing than someone speaking broken English.”
