The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Founder, Victoria L Collier, Encourages Aging Americans To Establish Proper Estate And Asset Protection

Estate & Asset Protection Attorney, Victoria Collier relates two current high-profile situations in which family members and acquaintances are allegedly attempting to take control of an elderly person’s finances and cautions that it can happen to anyone.

DECATUR, GA, November 15, 2018: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new blog on her law firm’s website entitled “Loved Ones Do Steal From Aging Parents And Friends,” in which Ms. Collier emphasizes the importance of having a plan in place while one is still mentally sharp.

Victoria CollierCollier writes, “This is a growing problem throughout the country. But, if you have proper legal documents set up, it makes this kind of inter family abuse more difficult to pull off.”

Collier points out that, “It may require some well-known famous names getting into financial troubles with loved ones to make everyone else take notice and realize that the same thing could happen to them.” She further cautions, “You don’t have to be a billionaire or even a millionaire for someone to want to get their grubby hands on whatever assets you do have.”

Collier cites two current high-profile cases which involve Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee and Astronaut Buzz Aldrin. She goes on to add, “The fact is that financial exploitation of older people is a growing problem as Baby Boomers are aging. Families are reluctant to prosecute so they stay quiet and so it happens and stays under the radar, often leaving elderly parents destitute in their final years.”
