Top Carolinas Orthodontic Professional Kerry White Brown Publishes New Article Explaining Why You Need a Time Out

Dr. Kerry White Brown, an esteemed Orthodontist with nearly 20 years’ experience, shares why it’s important for you to have your own time out—ASAP.

Columbia, South Carolina — May 11, 2017 — Carolina Orthodontist Kerry Brown White recently published a new article, “Why You Need to Give YOURSELF a Time Out—ASAP.”

As Dr. White Brow says, “Being tired is no walk in the park…”

Just like toddlers get cranky and misbehave when they are tired, she explains, the same is true for adults. Being overly tired can be tough on a body physically—having a negative impact on balance and dexterity. Furthermore, exhausted adults also run a greater risk of depression, often exhibit poor judgement, and are impatient.

That’s why, Dr. White Brown says, we need to deal with ourselves much the same as we would that unruly toddler, and order our own time out.

Dr. White Brown takes a slight detour for a moment, discussing decision fatigue and how making decisions – over and over – literally fatigues the brain. This causes us to make poor “downstream decisions.” She brings this back full circle, illustrating how poor decision-making is actually at the root of much bad behavior—for kids and us.

On the other hand, a timeout gives a “time off” from making decisions at all. It’s like refueling the brain—and body. She elaborates, “Taking this pressure off is like a vacation from the mind and consequently, the body.”

The result of a timeout, Dr. White Brown contends, is that we – just like children – will come out the other side making wiser decisions. Furthermore, we will often “instantly” find solutions to problems that were plaguing us.

She goes on to say that our timeout doesn’t have to be anything major. “The key,” she shares, “is just taking a little time away.”
