Top Carolinas Orthodontic Professional Kerry White Brown Publishes New Blog Post on Things to Remember to Keep Your Teens from Driving You Crazy

Dr. Kerry White Brown, an esteemed Orthodontist with nearly 20 years’ experience, shares what you need to know to understand teen angst and what to keep in mind to maintain perspective.

Columbia, South Carolina — May 11, 2017 — Carolina Orthodontist Kerry Brown White recently published a new article, “Understanding Teen Angst and 3 Things to Remember to Keep Your Teens from Driving You Crazy.”

As Dr. White Brown says, “Teenagers. They can be the moodiest, crankiest, most annoying and most selfish creatures on the face of the planet. But if they are yours, you love them anyway. Most of the time.”

Dr. White Brown uses this as an intro into what she calls, “teen angst.” And, she adds, “Despite the fact it often feels like an excuse for bad behavior, it is a very real thing. Their hormones are crazy, peer pressure is vicious, and even parental pressure can be fierce.”

Parental pressure? Dr. White Brown explains this by talking about how parents often come down very hard on teens that are acting out, usually out of fear, and this can make the situation worse and not better.

Yet, she says, we can’t afford to just stick our head in the sand either. Well, not completely, she adds, “Obviously if your teen is doing things that could be dangerous to themselves or others you must intervene. That’s a whole different story than what we are talking about here. Teen angst, unlike delinquent behavior, is more attitude than action.”

From there, Dr. White Brown provides three additional things to keep in mind before exiling your teens until adulthood.
