Top Carolinas Orthodontic Professional Kerry White Brown Publishes New Post on Balancing Kids and Career

Dr. Kerry White Brown, an esteemed Orthodontist with nearly 20 years’ experience, shares how to keep your cool when trying to balance kids and career

Columbia, South Carolina — June 01, 2017 — Carolina Orthodontist Kerry Brown White recently published a new article, “Balancing Kids & A Career – How Not to Lose It When You Feel Like You’re Losing Your Mind.”

As Dr. White Brown says, “It’s hard enough being a mom. It’s hard enough having a career. Combine them – and it can feel darn near impossible.”

She makes clear the piece is not intended to make light of full-time moms who don’t work outside the home. Instead, it’s just intended to address the special circumstances that arise when you are mothering and working outside the home at the same time. She adds, “Balancing motherhood and a full-time career can often feel like literally being pulled in two different directions.”

She elaborates on this idea, saying. “Both priorities expect (and often need) full-time dedication. Sometimes you feel like you are on top of it – Superwoman – and it’s all a breeze. You’re killing it, right?! Other times, however, you (will, if you haven’t yet) feel like you suck at both. The roller coaster of emotions full-time working moms feel is real—and frequent.”

The first step in getting it together when you feel like you’re losing it, she states, is keeping in mind what you stand to gain. Then, acknowledge the role that preparation can take in making it all seem much more manageable.

From there, she says you need to try your best to be flexible. Can you ask for flex time at work or a more flexible overall schedule? As she explains, this can feel like you are literally “creating time.”

Dr. White Brown also suggests adjusting expectations may go a long way to improving the way you feel about your situation as well.
