Andy Eilers Named Executive Producer on Upcoming Feature About the Life Story of Dick Vitale

Santa Monica, CA, November 12, 2020 – Andy has recently joined Emmy® Award Winning Director, Nick Nanton, DNA Films® and Abundance Studios™ for the production of a new documentary feature on the life story of legendary basketball personality, Dick Vitale.

The Emmy® Award Winning DNA Films crew began principal filming for the yet-to-be-titled film in South Florida, where Vitale lives, in mid November.

Nanton interviewed Vitale in which the sportscaster shared memories from his meteoric rise from a junior high coach to leading the NBA’s Detroit Pistons in just nine years before moving into sports broadcasting. Vitale also opened up about lessons he learned growing up as a kid who was bullied after he lost his sight in one eye.

Filming will continue over the coming months with interviews with former players and coaches from Vitale’s early coaching days in guiding East Rutherford High School in New Jersey to two consecutive state championships. Interviews will also feature stories from Vitale’s days as an assistant coach at Rutgers University in the 1970s, and his time at the University of Detroit where he led the Titans to the greatest year in the history of the school during the 1976-77 seasons.

The documentary will include Vitale’s short stay with the Detroit Pistons in the NBA and then follow his 40+ years at ESPN where he has become a household name. This film will show the journey that led Vitale to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the National Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Coming Fall of 2021, the film will show a side of Dickie V that even the most ardent fans have never seen, along with imparting valuable life lessons from a man who still lives by values his parents taught him growing up in New Jersey, like, ‘be good to people, and people will be good to you.’
