Felinton Elder Law & Estate Planning Centers Founder, Mindy Felinton Encourages Readers To Update Or Create Legal Documents That Include Access To Digital Accounts And Assets

Elder Care Attorney, Mindy Felinton talks about one of the most overlooked areas when creating wills, trusts, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents, that of digital accounts and other digital assets.

Delray Beach, FL  October 28, 2019: Mindy Felinton, founder of Felinton Elder Law & Estate Planning Centers, has posted a new blog on her law firm’s website entitled “Include Directions For Digital Assets When Creating Estate And Asset Protection Plan.” Ms. Felinton reminds readers to make it possible for caregivers or loved ones to be able to access digital accounts and other assets.

Mindy FelintonFelinton reminds readers, “We are living in the digital and have been for a few decades now.” She continues, “In fact there are young people who have never seen or heard of a telephone that sat on a table that rang loudly and had to be answered. Some kids do not even know how to use or dial an old-fashioned telephone.”

“Considering that just about everything is done digitally these days,” Felinton writes, “and your entire world can be carried around in the palm of your hand, a great many who have not been weaned on computers do have financial accounts that they manage digitally, as well as monthly bills from mortgages to club memberships.” She adds, “But, many people do not think to include their digital account access information in their wills or estate and asset protection plans.”

According to Felinton, “More and more attorneys are asking for this information and it will be common soon enough. But, at the moment it is still an area that is being overlooked with dire consequences.” Felinton states, “AARP has posted a thorough article about this subject on their website, which you can read by clicking here.
