The film will tell the life story of former FBI hostage negotiator, Chris Voss and will highlight his negotiation expertise

Orlando, FL – October 5, 2020 —  Emmy® Winning Director Nick Nanton has signed on to direct a new documentary feature film from Emmy® Award-winning film production studio DNA Films in partnership with Abundance Studios.

The film will tell the life story of former FBI hostage negotiator, Chris Voss who today is the CEO and Founder of The Black Swan Group and author of ‘Never Split The Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It.’

As the former lead international kidnapping negotiator for the FBI as well as the former Crisis Negotiator for the New York City Division of the FBI, Chris Voss knows what makes for a good negotiator and he understands the ways in which negotiating well is crucial to all aspects of life, from work to home and everything in between.

Today, Chris leads his organization, The Black Swan Group, which specializes in solving business communication problems using hostage negotiation solutions. He is also the author of the national best-seller “Never Split The Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It,” in which he uses his many years of experience in international crisis and high stakes negotiations to develop a unique program that applies these globally proven techniques to the business world.

One of the key tenets of Chris’ teachings, that separates him from other negotiation standards, is that rational tools and techniques are not the most effective approach for negotiations. Instead, the key to success in negotiations is Tactical Empathy, which he describes as “emotional intelligence on steroids.”

This film will delve into the definition and benefits of Tactical Empathy through interviews with Chris, his son Brandon Voss, his current and former co-workers and more.

Chris will serve as a guide throughout the film as he shares experiences from his life and career to illustrate these techniques, and offer scores of examples of how they translate into our everyday lives. Filming will also include detailed break-downs of hypothetical situations to teach viewers the various negotiating skills Chris uses such as labeling, mirroring and more.

Principal photography is expected to begin in the summer of 2021.
