 Naples, FL, September 25, 2020: Owner and CEO of Smilecreator of Naples, Dr. Nilo Hernandez, Jr., DDS, has posted a new blog on his website entitled, “Make Sure You Have Heart-Healthy Gums.” Dr. Hernandez educates readers to the importance of oral health particularly during stressful times. 

Dr. Hernandez states, “Your gums can indicate whether you are prone to heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Yes,” he adds, “your gums.” He elaborates, “Healthy gums don’t always, but often do indicate health within the body organs. If they are free of inflammation, chances are your arteries are too.”

A Dr. Hernandez points out, “The mouth is the gateway to the entire body. It has been shown time and time again that poor dental health and gum disease (aka periodontitis) is associated with an increased risk of developing heart disease.” Dr. Hernandez emphasizes, “If you’ve already had heart surgery to and have artificial heart valves, you want to make sure you maintain excellent oral health.”

About Dr. Nilo Hernandez

Nilo A. Hernandez Jr., DDS, DICOI completed I dental degree at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska in 1991. Prior to that, he also completed dental training overseas that placed much emphasis on surgery and trauma procedures. With so much training in the surgical arts, it’s no wonder that he has excelled on this chosen path with the greatest of passion and vigor.
