Personal Injury Attorney, Eva Brindisi Pearlman Reveals Sobering Holiday DUI Statistics

Personal Injury Attorney, Eva Brindisi Pearlman, partner at the Law Offices of Brindisi, Murad, Brindisi & Pearlman reminds us that while the spirit of the holiday season is meant to be about love and gratitude, it is also known as the “DUI Season”, which often results in grief and loss.

Utica, NY, November 29, 2014: Personal Injury attorney Eva Brindisi Pearlman, partner at the Law Offices Brindisi, Murad, Brindisi & Pearlman has posted a new blog on the law offices website entitled “In The Spirit of The Season, Don’t Drink and Drive.” The holiday season is upon us and amid all the celebration there are inevitably other more tragic events that happen on an annual basis. Ms. Pearlman reminds us that mixing drinking with driving is never a good idea.

Pearlman writes, “In law enforcement, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s weekend is often referred to as the ‘DUI Season’.” Her research led her to an article at LifeSafer.com where she came across, as she says, “some rather startling statistics.” Pearlman shares, “The daily death toll from drunk driving during the holiday season is significantly more than the rest of the year. According to the federal traffic safety data, between the year 2001 and 2005, an average of 36 fatalities occurred per day in the U.S. as a result of crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver. That number increases to 45 per day during the Christmas period and jumps to 54 per day over the New Year’s holiday.” (www.lifesafer.com/blog/holiday-dui-season/)

With parties and celebrations happening virtually non-stop between Thanksgiving and the New Year, Pearlman encourages, “So, please remember this holiday season, don’t drive drunk, don’t be in a hurry to get somewhere and do consider everyone else traveling on the roads with you. Let the true spirit of the season be enough to fill everyone with warmth and cheer.”
