About Anne

Anne Morrison has an extensive career in building communities for families and small businesses, and supporting small to medium-sized businesses and organizations with IT support designed to meet their specific needs. Her passion for IT spans decades and can be credited to two pivotal people,

The first, a professor in her master’s degree program, wanted each student to have a solid background in “all things computer.” He took the class to a university lab that had preserved an original key punch machine and tasked them with making a functioning program from punched holes. This was just the beginning of Anne’s journey in the tech industry.

The second, the Director of the St. Louis Housing Authority, then took a leap of faith and allowed Anne to write a computer program to organize important data, solving an ongoing problem with a service delivery program for the elderly. This not only saved the program, but it allowed Anne the opportunity to expand on that experience by building houses, as well as computer programs, for the community. Anne started with supervising a small rehab construction project and moved on to developing and financing larger projects, establishing asset management programs, and managing investments nationally. She was one of a limited number of female officers for a Wall Street firm. Over the years, Anne has developed databases, built out and managed a government agency website, and provided technical support for agency staff.

The project she’s most proud of is a first-time homeowner project with Habitat for Humanity in Fairfax, Virginia. She identified financing for the project, then worked with future homeowners, White House staff, and county representatives to construct what was then the largest Habitat project in Northern Virginia. The community’s short main street is named “Morrisons Way,” and her personal copy of the street sign is proudly displayed in her office.

After completing a BS degree from the University of Tennessee, Anne earned a Master of Arts, Urban Affairs Degree, focused on federal policy, statistics, and research from St. Louis University. While in St Louis, she contributed research to a book on the history of one of the largest public housing failures in America. After graduating, Anne was selected for “Leadership St. Louis” where she was involved in several community-based programs before moving to Washington, DC. She was selected for and graduated from the Washington University Certified Public Manager Program. She volunteered with others to fundraise for the re-building of Eastern Market, and she served as Chairman of the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF) during the financial crisis and continues to serve on the board. WACIF provides technical and financial support to small businesses in the Washington, DC area.

Anne and her CMIT Solutions of Capitol Hill staff provide hands-on support to nonprofits and local for-profit companies. They also co-manage IT infrastructure for larger companies by providing security overlay for operations. They serve clients in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
