Retirement Resources President, Dave Boike Talks About The Many Benefits of Expressing Thanks And Expresses Thanks To All.

Retirement Resources President and Investment Advisor, Dave Boike acknowledges the exceedingly stressful times and offers statistics and uplifting quotes to help readers alleviate stress.

Auburn Hills, MI — November 18, 2020— Dave Boike, President of Retirement Resources and co-author of The Ultimate Success Guide with Brian Tracy, published a new article on the company website entitled, And So We Give Thanks, in which Mr. Boike expresses thanks on behalf of his firm and shares interesting statistics.
Boike begins by sharing a quote from the thirteenth-century theologian and mystic, Meister Eckhart who said, “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.” He goes on to add, “I love the Meister Eckhart quote above. This is one of the reasons Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is about the one saving grace everyone can easily access” Boike continues, “During this particularly stressful year it is comforting to know that saying “thank you” is enough to lift us above all the fears we may be facing whether due to COVID-19 or any other stressful situation.”

As Boike points out, “It is virtually impossible not to feel some degree of stress in the face of all that is happening this year.” He writes, “I just read that the American Psychological Association found in a recent survey that, “68% of adults surveyed say the 2020 election is a significant source of stress in their life – up from 52% in 2016. Across the board, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents are significantly stressed. And Black adults had an even greater increase in stress from the election, from 46% in 2016 to 71% in 2020.” https://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2020/10/election-stress

“Perhaps you lost someone to COVID-19 this year,” says Boike, continuing, “Maybe your kids missed out on graduation ceremonies from college or high school. Maybe your child’s big wedding got postponed. Maybe you are concerned about the environment or racial tensions in this country.” Boike goes on to write, “This year seems to have produced more stressful circumstances than usual. Despite the stressors, if you can find things that make you feel grateful, you’re bound to feel better.”

Boike goes on to say, “In an article from Harvard Business Review, I read, “Research clearly indicates expressing gratitude is beneficial to our health and well-being. We’re happier when we’re grateful. During a crisis, taking the time to thank others is vital to dampen loneliness, amp up social connections, and generate generosity. Yet, while the benefits of gratitude are widely acknowledged, we feel thankful a lot more often than we express it — and it seems to be least often expressed at work.” https://hbr.org/2020/05/in-times-of-crisis-a-little-thanks-goes-a-long-way
