Tax Resolution Attorney John P. Willis, Alerts Readers To Scammers Impersonating Staff Members Of U.S. Tax Court

Tax resolution attorney John Willis, CEO and founder of IRSALLSTAR joins the U.S. Tax Court in warning taxpayers about scammers who are now posing as staff of the Tax Court which most people don’t know about unless they’ve been involved in a dispute over their taxes.

Fairhope, AL, April 26, 2019: Tax Attorney John Willis, CEO and founder of IRSALLSTAR.com, recently posted a new article on his website entitled “Scammers Now Impersonating U.S. Tax Court Staff,” in which Mr. Willis reminds taxpayers that neither the IRS nor the Tax Court threatens taxpayers.

John P WillisWillis launches into his article saying, “I’ve been alerting readers to the multitude of tax scams that have reach plague-like proportions over the years.” He adds, “The news media has been getting the word out about the scams and the IRS has been warning taxpayers too.” He emphasizes that, “Scammers don’t take vacations and they really get to work during the tax filing season. So, it’s not at all surprising that the U.S. Tax Court has issued a warning as well. Apparently the scammers are posing as Tax Court staff members now.”

According to Willis, “Most people taxpayers are not familiar with the U.S. Tax Court unless they have a dispute with the IRS about their taxes.” “While most taxpayers think of the IRS as the judge and jury when it comes to tax matters,” writes Willis, “there is actually a higher court. Tax disputes that can’t be resolved between taxpayers and the IRS may be resolved in the United States Tax Court.” He elaborates, “Scammers have a nose for digging up the government agencies that will trigger fear and obedience in unsuspecting taxpayers. But, just like the IRS, the Tax Court is not a harsh task master.”

Willis tells readers about actions that neither the IRS nor the U.S. Tax Court will engage in. He says neither government agency will:

“•Call or email to demand payment of Court fees or taxes;
•Call or email to threaten an arrest; or
•Call or email to insist that a specific payment method be used to pay a tax debt or request credit or debit card numbers over the phone.”

Willis provides the Court’s number for reporting scams as well as a partial list of protective measures taxpayers can take to avoid becoming victims of tax scams and identity theft.
